Mae tymor y Gwanwyn wedi dod i ben, ac am dymor prysur i blant Blwyddyn 1 a 2! Fel rhan o’n thema ‘Yr Arctig’ maent wedi mwynhau dysgu am anifeiliaid yr Arctic, wedi cymharu tymheredd yn yr Arctig gyda thymheredd yn Nhreffynnon ac wedi ymchwilio i ardaloedd penodol yn yr Arctig. Braf oedd gweld y plant yn cydweithio i baratoi cyflwyniad byr i weddill y dosbarth- roedd rhai ohonynt yn frwdfrydig iawn ac yn amlwg yn mwynhau perfformio o flaen eu cyfoedion!
Rydym wedi bod yn brysur iawn yn ein gwersi iaith y tymor yma. Mae’r plant wedi ysgrifennu cyfarwyddiadau i wneud siocled poeth (rheswm gwych i ni gyd fwynhau siocled poeth tu allan ar ddiwrnod oer ym mis Chwefror!) ac maent wedi defnyddio eu dychymyg i ysgrifennu am fywyd mewn ‘glôb eira’ ac mewn castell. Un o uchafbwyntiau’r tymor oedd yr Arddangosfa Gelf. Roedd y plant wedi mwynhau creu llun yn seiliedig ar ein thema ac wrth eu boddau yn gweld eu gwaith yn yr oriel- mae gennym artistiaid talentog iawn yma yn Ysgol Gwenffrwd.
Daeth y thema i ben gydag ymweliad arbennig gan Simon Jarman, sef taid un o ddisgyblion Blwyddyn 2. Roedd wedi byw yn yr Antarctig am chwe mis, a daeth atom i siarad am ei brofiadau, gan ddangos lluniau a chlipiau fidio am ei amser yno. Rydym yn ddiolchgar iawn iddo am ei gyfraniad.
Ein thema'r tymor nesaf yw ‘Mor Ladron’. Fel rhan o’u gwaith cartref dros y Pasg, rydym wedi gofyn i’r plant gofnodi eu syniadau a chwestiynau am y thema ar daflen yn eu llyfrau. Rydym hefyd yn gwerthfawrogi syniadau rhieni, felly cofiwch gofnodi eich syniadau chi!
Pasg hapus i chi gyd.
The Spring term has come to an end, and what a busy term it’s been for our Year 1 and 2 children! As part of our ‘Arctic’ theme the children have enjoyed learning about Arctic animals, have compared temperatures in the Arctic with temperatures in Holywell and have researched specific areas in the Arctic. It was lovely to see the children working cooperatively to prepare a short presentation to the rest of the class- some were very enthusiastic and obviously enjoyed ‘performing’ in front of their peers!
We have been very busy in our literacy lessons this term. The children wrote instructions on how to make hot chocolate (which was an excellent excuse to enjoy a hot chocolate outside on a cold day in February!) and they have used their imaginations to write about life in a snow globe and a castle. One of the highlights of last term was the Art Exhibition. The children enjoyed creating a picture based on our theme and they were excited to view their work in the gallery- we have some very talented artists in Ysgol Gwenffrwd.
The term ended with a very special visit by Simon Jarman, the grandfather of one of our Year 2 children. He had lived for six months in the Antarctic and came to talk about his experiences and show photographs and video clips of his time there. We are very grateful for his time and contribution.
Our theme next term is ‘Pirates’! As part of their homework, we have asked the children to write their ideas and questions about the theme in their homework book. We also appreciate parents’ views, so please remember to write down your ideas!
Happy Easter to you all!
